Meruti Hills Trek — Untamed Trails & Timeless Temples
with Nimma Destination by YANADAYS
When the city noise gets too loud and life starts feeling like a loop, there’s Meruti — a lesser-known trail in the Western Ghats where the clouds kiss your path, and the forest hums with stillness. The Meruti Hills Trek, curated by Nimma Destination, is your chance to unplug, slow down, and immerse yourself in one of Karnataka’s most untouched landscapes.
We kick things off with a relaxed Friday night departure from Bengaluru, setting course for the lush hill village of Horanadu. By sunrise, you’re sipping coffee at a warm homestay and getting ready to meet the mountains. A rugged jeep ride takes us deep into forest territory — and from there, it’s all boots on trail.
The Meruti Gudda trek, roughly 14 km round trip, winds through dense Shola forests and rolling ridgelines, eventually opening up to expansive views of the Kalasa region. At nearly 5,500 feet, the summit serves up stunning vistas of Kudremukh, Ballalarayana Durga, and the endless folds of the Western Ghats. We’ll pause here for a packed lunch with a view — the kind that makes the climb worth every step.
Back at base by evening, the vibe softens. Coffee, snacks, and a glowing campfire set the scene for a hearty local dinner and shared stories under open skies.
The next morning is about soft landings. After breakfast, we pay a quiet visit to the Horanadu Temple, tucked amidst the hills, followed by a short escape to the beautiful Soormane Falls, where you can sit back and let nature work its quiet magic. A self-sponsored lunch wraps up the experience before we journey back to Bengaluru, refreshed and refilled.
This isn’t just a trek. It’s a weekend that clears the noise, recharges your rhythm, and reminds you what it’s like to feel fully present.
