Manja Motte & Makaat Motte Hills — A Twin Summit Escape into the Western Ghats with Nimma Destination by YANADAYS
If you’ve been waiting for a sign to disconnect from the usual and step into something wild and soul-stirring — this is it. The Manja Motte & Makaat Motte Trek, brought to life by Nimma Destination, is a weekend blend of forest trails, twin peaks, sacred riversides, and quiet moments that stay with you long after the return ride.
We leave Bengaluru and Mysuru behind on a cool Friday night, heading into the heart of the Western Ghats. By sunrise, you’re tucked into a cozy homestay at Perur, surrounded by greenery and the calm that only the hills can offer. After a hearty breakfast, a jeep whisks us off to the trailhead — and that’s where the real adventure begins.
The twin summits of Manja Motte and Makaat Motte rise above the forests like natural sentinels — remote, scenic, and wrapped in pure Ghats magic. The trail winds through dense vegetation, open ridges, and cloud-kissed meadows. At the top, it’s just you, the wind, and views that stretch endlessly across Kodagu’s rolling landscapes. With a packed lunch in hand, the peak is the perfect spot to rest, reflect, and recharge post 13km trek.
The descent takes us back to base and then onward to Talacauvery, the sacred origin of the River Kaveri — a quiet, spiritual punctuation to a powerful day of trekking. By evening, we settle into our scenic campsite for coffee, snacks, and a good old-fashioned campfire under the stars, complete with a local dinner made with heart.
Sunday opens gently. After breakfast, we set off to the peaceful waters of Chiklihole Dam, followed by an optional visit to either the Dubare Elephant Camp or the intricate Namdroling Golden Temple — where culture and calm go hand in hand. A self-sponsored lunch wraps up the afternoon, and by night, you’re back in Bengaluru, body tired but spirit full.
Two peaks. Dozens of views. Countless memories.
This isn’t your average weekend. It’s your reset button — curated the YANADAYS way.
